Plein Air - Marine Hotel
Following a spectacular display of the northern Lights on Friday night, Ayrshires finest artists turned out on Saturday morning (11 May) to create a colourful display in the Grounds of the Marine Hotel, Troon.
Blessed by a beautifully bright May day the artists set up their easels and paint sets around the hotel itself and took in a spectacular view of the Hotel, Arran and the golf course being prepared for the Open with Gallery seating at the 18th hole.
Our judge for the day was artist Bill Taylor, former Principal Teacher of Art at Marr College. Bill advised that the quality of the art was tremendous and how lucky we are to have such a fabulous art club in Ayrshire and how the local community benefits from our presence. Judging the spectacular array of paintings was no mean feat.
In the end his decision was David Tapner for his view of the Hotel, Gallery seating and view towards Arran. Linda Renfrew came 2nd and Jenny Brown was in 3rd place. Well done to all the artists who turned out on Saturday (members and non Members) and added to the fantastic atmosphere.
