Painting is the most absorbing way to appreciate nature and the outdoors. That’s why I am happiest painting plein air… yes, even in winter! There is nothing more satisfying than looking at something closely... looking really closely! The shape, the texture, the colours, the atmosphere and don't forget the feelings. All of that pours into a painting.
My preferred medium is oil (but I love to experiment) and I like the looseness and texture that palette knives produce. I normally paint 'alla prima' on boards which are sealed and then primed with gesso to give a rough finish.
