KAZ STEVENSON

As a child I enjoyed any art or crafting and was encouraged at home and school to be creative.

On leaving school I pursued a career in the arts, at college. It was a very nurturing, exciting environment and I loved learning to use a whole array of media and methods of producing art.  I became very disillusioned and disappointed at the university system as at the time it appeared that the ability to 'talk rubbish' in order to intellectualise your art was more important than the work, or the actual method thoughts, lucky accidents or creative process itself.

I then went to University again, had a great varied career as a psychiatric nurse.

I always promised myself I would return to my first love of art. On retiring from nursing I now have time... so no excuses!

Over the past couple of years I have picked up my pens, pencils and paint brushes and enjoy painting and drawing an array of subjects but find myself drawn towards portraiture.

I have been primarily working in oils over the last year.
